Hi

Some help required please. I need to set up an analogue phone on a 4321, with 2 port FXS NIM installed. Its all set up (config below) but there's no dial tone, and the cable status on the voice port is 'not connected'. I've turned the rj11 cable back on its other voice port and it comes up.

[edit] the phones I am using are basic battery powered British Telecom phones. Nothing fancy

voice-port 3

 cptone GB

 timeouts call-disconnect 1

connection plar 10901 <<<<< when you lift the handset it dials, 10901.

Based on your Configuration, if you lift the handset it should ring  10901 is that working ?

Can you share "sh voice port  summary "

No. show voice cable-detect doesnt even show that the phone is connected. This is on two phones as well. There must be something in the config

So you mean out of all FXS port two are not detecting the cables.

I dint see any shutdown command on the shared config, But have you given shutdown commands on the port ?

The config looks good for basic calling.

There are chances, that individual port can go faulty.

try different cable, different analogue phone, re insert  the NIM card, and try a reload. if nothing  helps raise an RMA.

yes, not shutdown has been done

Theres just 2 routers with 1 voice card in each, with 2 ports with a phone at each end. Neither are working. I tested the cables and phones on my home pots.

Phone--[fxs]router---wan sim---router[fxs]--phone

can you share show  inventory

Remove  connection plar 10901 from port config.

Make sure that the module is FXS and not FXO.

Might this be something to do with the pinout of the rj11 connector? UK phone to potentially a USA FXS? Im using what I think is a standard cable in the UK. As i said, the ports come up when looped back on themselves, so maybe its a crossover/straight-through type issue?

Could you do a show version and post what version of iOS you are running?
