Hi,
We are planning on integrating a CUCM 8.6 to a Nortel CS1000 v4 using 2821 & MGCP / QSIG - the usual. I have jsut been informed by the Nortel PBX administrator that he can only use ESGF protocol. I'm just wondering if anyone else has come across this and either got it working or didn't. I can see ESGF is an ETSI standard
Thanks

Is there a restriction of not using SIP for this:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/solutions/collateral/enterprise/interoperability-portal/989942.pdf
But I think that it's going to work fine with your ISDN setup - as I can see ESGF is European QSIG setting and EURO QSIG is definitelly supported by Cisco equipment. So maybe not options are not going to work but main functions should...

Thanks Dragan,
Good to hear that ESGF is definitely supported by Cisco equipment. Would definitely like to hear from someone that has connected to a Nortel PBX using ESGF and can confirm that the usuals work ie calling name / number in both directions etc.
Thanks also for the link - I had seen that but I msut say I'm not comfortable in connecting two PBxs directly with SIP trunks...considering they are on seperate networks and firewalls etc in between. I'd prefer to use CUBE in this case buit then there is the big licensing price tag with that
Cheers

Well I had never connected CM to Nortel but I have some other setups involving same PRI ISDN and Erricson equipment. And it works OK...I can't be sure that, for example, calling name is going to work. Calling number should and basic calling will work...
BTW don't run from direct SIP integration - if your Nortel have interface for doing SIP you can achieve much more easy setup. You can let SIP going throw your FWs without problems...again it's just my opinion.

Dragan
