Ollie Colebrook

Hi all,

I am trying to configure within CUCM a forward within office hours and then a different forward out of hours.

DN is 4460

in hours this needs to forward to 5888

and out of hours this needs to forward to 4470

Could anyone help please ?

This should be doable with time of day routing (ToD for short) as you already got other replies suggesting. Instead of using DNs associated to a device, that can become unregistered and also uses licenses, I would have set it up with something like this.

  1. First you set up the call forward on DN 4460 to an internal made up DN, for example to 8888. The CSS used for CF needs to see the partition (PT) that holds this bogus DN.
  2. Setup DN 8888 as a translation pattern (TP) in the PT mentioned above that sends the called number as is without modification to a CSS that holds the partitions for ToD. Let's call that ToD_CSS for the sake of the explanation.
  3. In that CSS you have the two ToD PTs, lets call them ToD_WH_PT (For Work Hours) and ToD_NWH_PT (For None Work Hours) for the sake of clarity. Where the one for none work hours have a schedule for when it should be visible. That PT should be ordered first of the two PTs assigned to this CSS.
    • The general idea is that this PT should be visible during the time frame that you want the call to go to the alternate out of office hours number 4470 and any other hours the call will hit the second PT that doesn't have any time schedule and go to 5888.
    • To achieve this do the below configuration steps.
  4. In PT ToD_NWH_PT create a TP for 8888 that translates the called number to 4470 and sends the call out via a CSS that sees the PT that holds this DN.
  5. In PT ToD_WH_PT create a TP for 8888 that translates the called number to 5888 and sends the call out via a CSS that sees the PT that holds this DN.

That should be it.

Please let me know if this makes sense to you or if I'm shooting way over target with this.

Dear @Ollie Colebrook ,

Please follow the guidelines that described below to configure Time of Day Routing:

This is interesting,

Silly question but following the guidelines, have you created 2 Directory Numbers (4460) and assign one to the Partition On_shift_ Partition and the other to the partition Off_Shift_Partition, with the corresponding forwardings per DN (4460 FwAll to 5888 On_shift and 4460FwAll 4470 Off_Shift)?

Could you also check if your CSS per DN are OK?

And if these two DNs are not associated with a phone, or are on devices that are not currently registered, I would ensure that the forwarding settings for "Call Forward Unregistered" are also set to the desired target.

Maren

Most of the time the error is due to not understanding CUCM's call routing which is the basis of ToD, I explain how it works here
