I've been searching the Internet and find many MCS server loaded with 4.x. Maybe I'm just looking at the wrong sites, but is 5.1 an upgrade from 4? Or are there servers that ship with 5.1 pre-loaded? Is there a specific MCS that is the minimum requirement for 5.1 or can any previous MCS be upgraded with 5.1?
Thanks,
Mark

hi Mark
actually these MCS's are standard hardware used for CCM regardless of its release, so CCM 5.x uses the standard Cisco MCS servers like previous Cisco Unified CallManager releases.
CCM 5.x has appliance option and SW only option the same as previous releaes.
a CCM 5.x appliance is a combined HW and SW solution based on linux and no OS administration is necesary anymore since all operation is done via Cisco Unified Callmanager interfaces.
Cisco CCM 5.0 is an evolution of Cisco CCM 4.1.3 it has full feature parity with additional features being unique to CCM 5.0, while CCM 5.1.1 is based on CCM 4.2.1
refer to this nice compatibililty matrix to get full idea in regard of upgrades:

CM 5.1.1 does not have the same features as 4.2, 6.0 does. 5.1 is really an SR for 5.0(4) with a lot of bug fixes and some minor feature enhancements.
As to the server any of the MCSes referenced in the compatibility matrix will work as long as you have 2 GB of RAM and 72 GB drives, which has changed from CM 4.1 that required 1 GB of RAM and 36 GB HD.

Hello,
This link has a table with the server model and the CCM versions that you can install on that server:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/voiceapp/ps378/prod_brochure0900aecd8062a4f9.html
BTW, CCM 5.X is a Linux based CCM and you can upgrade from 4.1 to 5.X, but this procedure includes a server re-build (different Architecture, OS, database, ...).
Just check the CCM 5.0, 5.1 and 6.0 section of the link and make sure that you read the memory requirements notes.

But, at the end of the day, is CCM 6.0 orderable and shipping ?

I think it is now.
