Trunk SIP between CCM 4.1(3) and Asterisk 1.2 codec G729

Hello

We have a trunk SIP between CCM 4.1(3) and Asterisk 1.2 working fine with codecs g711u/g711a.

We want to change the trunk's codec to g729 for WAN link.

Incoming calls (from asterisk to ccm) work fine (profile mtp (cisco 2801) or profile xcode) with g729 throught trunk sip.

The regions are properly configured to allow this scenario.

Outgoing calls (from ccm to asterisk) don't work with g729, only with g711.

Do you know if it's possible to place calls from ccm to asterisk throught trunk sip in g729 ?

Here you are the logs on ccm when the call failed (capability mismatch !!!! and ERROR - no resources are available )

What kind of resources CCM need to work?

Why work g729 on incoming calls and not in outgoing calls?

Thanks for your time

Hi,

With CM 4.x the codec for all calls established over a given sip trunk is restricted to either G.711 mu-law or a-law.

Hi

Thanks for your answer

Incomings calls from asterisk to ccm 4.x work in g729 with mtp resource or xcode in 2801, depending of the regions and device pool configuration.

How is it possible if ccm 4.x only work with g711 over trunk sip ?

Thanks a lot

hey,

not to overtake the thread, but could you explain the details on how you have this working? i ask because i have a customer that wants to do the same thing

thanks

Hi

There is a nice document in voip-info.org.

Take a look

http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+Cisco+CallManager+Integration

If you has any doubt contact me again.

Cheers

I've had more success in getting an H323 link up between Asterisk and CCM. Supports both G711 and G729 without requiring transcoding at the CCM gateway end. (G729 requires licenses on the * side though).

Was pretty easy to get going but i've yet to write up my notes on this.
