Hello
Need help on an upgrade of a uccx 5.x enhanced to a 8.6 premium.
From what I've read what I have to do is a two instances upgrade, first from 5.x to 7.x, and then from 7.x to 8.6
Can somebody help me on this? is this ok and how can i get docs with informations about this upgrade, I have found this pdf
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_8_5/installation/guide/uccx851_ug.pdf with information about upgrading to 8.5 version of the uccx from a 7.0 version, but Im not finding anything about a 5.x to 7.0
Thanks in advance!

Hi Augusto,
No that's not true.
In your case you can either follw one of the below paths.
Option A: UCCX 5.0(2)- > 7.0(1) \ or 7.0(2) -> 8.5
Option B: UCCX 5.0(2) -> 8.0(1) \ or 8.0(2) ->8.5
1. You will not be able to download any of the UCCX base builds\versions from Cisco, only SR's or SU's are downlodable.
You can contact your local SE\CAM for the base versions.
Option A:
UCCX 5.0 (1 or 2) to 7.0(1 or 2) upgrade is nothing but to just to run the 7.0 installer on the existing 5.0 setup. But please make sure that the existing hardwares are supported with the 7.0 version (refer the below mentioned comp matrix).
For step by step procedure for upgrading from 5.0 to 7.0 refer the section "Upgrading CRS 5.0(x) to Cisco Unified CCX 7.0(1)" from page 75 in the below link,
and than use the below link for upgrading from UCCX 7.0(1)\7.0(2) to 8.5.
Option B:
Steps
-> From UCCX 5.0(2) to come to 8.0(1 or 2) you need to follow the below Windows to Linux upgrade path.
- Use the specific version PUT (Pre Upgrade tool) to backup the UCCX 5.0(2) system.
- Upgrade your existing CUCM to the compatiable version of UCCX 8.0(1 or 2).
- Install the UCCX 8.0(1 or 2) and Restore the above taken bacup.
Please refer the below guides for step by step reference.
-> From UCCX 8.0(1or 2) to 8.5 upgrade refer the link given below.
UCCX comp matrix for your reference:
Hope this helps.

There is no UCCX 8.6, only 8.5.
Your assumption on multi hop upgrade is correct and if you just follow the install/upgrade guides posted on Cisco webpage you will be in good condition. Once you go to version 7.0.1, make sure you apply SR5 as you need it to go up to version 8.X.
Also, going from enhanced to premium will require you to get a premium license.

Chris

Augusto,
You dont need to go to 7.x. you can follow this path
UCCX 5.0.2 >> 8.0.2 >> 8.0.2SU2 >> 8.5.1.
Page 7 of UCCX 8.0.2. upgrade guide says
Upgrading to Unified CCX 8.0(2)
This section describes how to prepare for upgrade and perform the entire upgrade
process on CRS 5.0(2) or Unified CCX 7.0(1) servers in order to move to Unified
CCX, Release 8.0(2).
Upgrading to UCCX 8.0.2SU2 ( a minor upgrade, can be downloaded from CCO ) would be additional step. This is also documented on page 3 of UCCX 8.5 upgrade guide http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_8_5/installation/guide/uccx851_ug.pdf
Supported Upgrade Path
Unified CCX 8.0(2)SU2 is the supported upgrade path for Unified CCX 8.5(1).
For Upgrades from Unified CCX 8.0(2)SU2 to Unified CCX 8.5(1), you do not have to apply the patch “ciscouccx.851voipmonser.cop.sgn”. Unified CCX 8.5(1) can be directly applied on Unified CCX 8.0(2)SU2.
As mentioned above, Unified CCX 8.0(2)SU2 includes the cop file required for final upgrade to Unified CCX 8.5(1). So no other COP file installation needed, directly 8.5.1 can be applied.
UCCX 8.0.2SU2 can be downloaded from here http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=270569179&softwareid=280840578&release=8.5(1)SU4&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
Hope it helps ?

Hi Augusto Garcia,
UCCX 5.0 (1 or 2) to 7.0(1 or 2) upgrade is nothing but to just to run the 7.0 installer on the existing 5.0 setup. But please make sure that the existing hardwares are supported with the 7.0 version (refer the below mentioned comp matrix).
For step by step procedure for upgrading from 5.0 to 7.0 refer the section "Upgrading CRS 5.0(x) to Cisco Unified CCX 7.0(1)" from page 75 in the below link,
Note:
1. Please check the availability of UCCX 7.0 installers.
2. I have seen some Customers, who were suppost to upgrade through these interim paths and als othe hardware upgrades they just preferred to install the latest version on the new hardwares and configured the system's from start, keeping the older system as reference tll everything is migrated manually.
Hope this helps.
