Upgraded Call manager express to 7.1 but remains at 3.3

Hi All,

First of all. If this post is under the wrong listing, please let me know

Have just recently upgraded from call manager express 3.3 to 7.1 with IOS c2691-ipvoicek9-mz.12.4.25d to support cisco ip phones 7912G using SIP

After the upgrade, to verify the successful upgrade I used sh telephony-service and system still shows 3.3

I ran sh flash: and shows me the files there. All of the GUI files that should be there and phone files necessary for the 2 phones.

I have access to the CME GUI using firefox.

Am I missing some thing?

Hi,

Did you upgrade your IOS or deployed CME files only? You need to upgrade the IOS along with files deployment to get the CME 7.1

I upgraded the IOS and the CME.

Sorry for late reply

Hi,

Can you share the output of show version and show telephony-service.

Also, check this link for CME/IOS compatibility matrix

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/requirements/guide/33matrix.html

Hi Mohammad,

I can give this to you tonight.

As well. Do you have to upload all files into flash that are in the CME tar file for the IOS to recognise the updated version of CME?

None of the CME files is mandatory to get CME functional. CME will be functional once you upgrade the IOS. These files are used for other purposes such as phone_loads, music-on-hold, ringtones, CME GUI, etc.

Hi Mohammed.

Sorry to bother you.  What are your thoughts on this please if you have any.

Hi John,

26xx series doesn't support 7.x CMEs. Please see the compatibility matrix

Sorry Mohammed but I don't see that in that link

Look at the second last table. You will see supported routers hardware. 2600 isn't listed

Hi Mohammed,

I know you have answered this blog already.

c2691-ipbasek9-mz.124-4.13b.bin is a bit old but does support my router and is now uploaded and verified via sh ver command

The only thing am missing now. And again i know this is a bit old. Is CME 4.0

I do have 4.1.0.2 but I gather that may not support the phones

Hi Mohammad,

Sh version output

Cisco IOS Software, 2600 Software (C2691-IPVOICEK9-M), Version 12.4(25d)

sh telephony-service output

cme_router#sh telephony-service
CONFIG (Version=3.3)
=====================

Ensure the IOS upgrade was successful, by looking at "sh version", you need to reboot the router after IOS upgrade.

Thanks Chris for your response. I did reboot the router after IOS upgrade.
