We're preparing to migrate from an old Nortel system in our Tokyo office to Cisco VoIP. I'm starting to finalize the equipment for the site, and I realized that Japan, at least at one point in time, had a specific type of PRI (J1 I think). Has anyone done a similar migration from a TDM system to Cisco, and can you help me understand if they do in fact have a special type of PRI (which means I need a special VWIC...), or if they can use one of the VWIC3-MFT cards?

Awesome. Thanks Yosh. I remember hearing about the J1 way back in NetAcad, but haven't come across a deployment where I've had to worry about it until now.
Thanks for the assist!

Confirmed. I did one recently in Tokyo but it was during a move so we had a new PRI installed, and ported the numbers. No difference on the PRI than US.
