Voip RTP port leakage on ISR Version 15.6(3)M1

HI All,

There is a Voip rtp port leakage error.

Suspect the issue to be a false alarm. Someone to be confirm if it is the same issue.

Bug details from cisco site for rtp false alarm but it is for different ISR version.

https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvf84528/?rfs=iqvred

 Also not sure what kind of calls are utilizing this port for which we are receiving the alarms.

When tried to make a test call to reproduce the issue , the call Id seems to be different , for which i am not getting the false alarms but the pork leakage error for what we are getting are for different call id range.

snippet from issue call ID:

Error - voip_rtp_allocate_port:Possible port leak? callID(209372), port(22962) socket(0x0)

Changing call state from established to idle:

//209372/00632038EC40/H323/h245_olc_in_sm: Received H245_EV_OLC_CLC_IND while at state H245_OLC_IN_STATE_ESTABLISHED

Call end cause code (cause 16 is the normal call clearing.):

//209372/00632038EC40/H323/release_ind: Disconnect cause 16 location code 0

//209372/00632038EC40/H323/cch323_h225_send_release: Cause = 16; Location

Also we verified the same through the command ‘show VoIP rtp connection’ during the call flow.

And the result showed that there was no indication of port leakage.

Tried restarting the routers but the error exists.

Hello Karthika,

I'm not seeing CSCvf84528 resolved in any release and it is listed as open:

https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/routers/access/4400/release/xe-16-6/isr4k-rel-notes-xe-16-6.html#con_129029

Since you are seeing the "Possible port leak?" error but not getting any dropped or failed calls I believe you are hitting this defect.

The debugs you attached do not have

This is just a cosmetic issue if you are not facing any issues and their is no actual leakage happening. This usually happens due to fast start when an RTP port is allocated initially. If the other end does does not do FS, the RTP port is dropped and returned to the pool of available RTP ports. That's when this error is thrown by IOS.
Check with "show voip rtp connection". If you do not see a build up of rtp port allocation vs the number of calls, you should be good and this can be ignored. I believe this will be fixed in 16.9 release.

Hi All,

Thanks for your response over the below.

Further we have given an upgrade to the following version - 15.7(3)M2

15.7.3M2 is listed as a fxed release, either bump up the M version and/or get back to TAC
