We are upgrading to a Cisco IPT solution. In the meantime we will be using legacy (i.e. non-POE) switches. In this case the spec for the 7937 Conference station requires for the use of a power brick (CP-PWR-CUBE-3) which I assume is to to provide the necessary -48V from the wall outlet. The spec also requires the use of a power splitter (CP-7937-PWR-SPL=). I've not been able to find information pertaining to the purpose of the splitter and how it works. Can any offer any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Norman,
Have a look at Figure 3-2 in the attached doc (installing hardware) and you will
see visually how the "power splitter" fits into the equation here
It's what allows the power from the Power Cube 3 to be connected to the
ethernet patch cable. It's not really optional in this config;

The 7937 really only takes inline power. The purpose of the splitter is to take power from the power adapter and feed it into the Ethernet data cable.
In the end it's a nice thing to have, because it reduces cable clutter on your conference table. You don't need to bring power and Ethernet on top of the table, just one Ethernet cable, and you can have the splitter and power adapter tucked out of sight 20 feet away.
