Of course take into account MTU issues. All these solutions are encapsulation based thus the outgoing MTU (along the path) must be large enough, or the path MTU discovery must work.

Another approach can be using L2TPv3 tunnels. This solution provides L2 connectivity and can be used between MPLS end nodes. This solution does not scale but perhaps is valid for your environment. Another benefit is that you can avoid MTU issues, but the price to pay is that the L2TPv3 end points must perform fragmentation of the packets that require it.
