Hi Sanjoy

Which type of recommendation you are looking for?

hardware platform

Hi,

In SP environment, the most common box is 7206VXR but now you can use instead the new 7201-NPE-G2 (RR usually need only one uplink) or if you need more power, ASR1000 is the next RR generation.

Thanks Laaubert ,

Is there any architectural advantage for RR in cisco 7300

7301 was the perfect candidate before 7201 and ASR1000 were available. It's still a good product if you don't need the scalability available in the 7201 and ASR1000 and you don't want to waste slots by putting a 7206VXR.

HI Pankaj/sanjoy,

cisco 7301 is the Stable Hardware for the RR Design.

In addition, for the Scalability purpose the recommendation is to use ASR1000.

The recommendation is NOT to use 7206VXR Router for RR Design.

Please RATE all Informative POST.

Hi Guru ,

Can you provide any doc for non recomendation of cisco 7200vxr

Hello Guru,

>> The recommendation is NOT to use 7206VXR Router for RR Design.

I don't agree I have seen incumbent provider networks using 7206VXR with NPE-G1.

If you have space in your racks you can use it

A RR server needs a very big memory and a powerful cpu and a pair of lan links

Hope to help

Giuseppe

It all depends on the scalability. C12K with PRP3/XR has good scalability numbers.
