Hi guys,
I've been trying to do some personal lab with Cisco Network Services Orchestrator. I did a local install of the trial version of NSO and have set up an NSO instance named 'nso_instance_eag' for my lab environment with the following simulated devices:
3 IOS devices
1 IOS-XE device
1 NX-OS device
3 Junos OS devices
After starting the simulation with the ncs-netsim start command, I can access each of these 8 devices from their respective CLIs.
However, I am unable to access the CLI of NSO for on-boarding the devices, and carrying out other network management activities. At my inputting the command ncs_cli -C -u admin, I've been getting the response below:
'Failed to connect to server'.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong, or not doing right? I'll be glad to receive some advice/assistance on this.
Thanks all.

Hi EAG,
I don't see you starting the NSO itself.
The ncs-netsim start command starts the simulated devices but not the NSO itself, to start it you need to do run ncs -c ncs.conf.
If you've already done that try running ncs --status to try to see if there's a problem somewhere.

Checkout https://developer.cisco.com/learning/labs/learn-nso-with-netsim/ where you can learn how to get started with NSO using netsim on a containerized environment. It explains all the commands you need to consider and you can play right away with the NSO container.
As jvikman commented, it seems you are missing to start ncs itself.
