Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to make the phone use another line besides line 1 when picking up the handset or speaker phone button and not pressing the line button?
This is on CCM 4.02a.
Hav e tried auto line select, use prime line under service parameters, and set the users global directory device association so the 3rd DN is their primary extension without any luck. Have reset the phone after each change and it always is using the first line.

So your settings are as follows
a. Always use prime line - True
b. Line 3 on phone is primary extension for the user associated to this phone.
It doesnt say you have restart Callmanager service or not to make this effective. Have you already tried that ?
Is this 402a or running any service release SR2a or SR2b ?

4.02a SR1a, have not restarted the call manager service. Is that needed for this change for 1-2 users??

Well, rebooted server to with combinations of use prime line, auto-line select and nothing does the trick so doesn't seem like this is possible.
What they want is, user picks up hand set or hits speaker and their 3rd line goes offhook instead of first line.
The primary line under user directory appears to have no effect on phone behavior. Prime line set to true saids to use first line always. Don't see any option to say use a certain line as default line on phone for calls.

Did you ever find a solution for this? I too would like to change the prime line to the 2nd line upon picking up the handset.

How about if you move line3 DN into line1 and line1 into line3? I think this should not change anything else configuration-wise. Will that work for you? If there are many phones to change you can use BAT to bulk update phones.

auto line select is for incoming calls. It determines the focus of the call when one line is already on a call and a second call comes in.
For outgoing calls, your only option is to configure the DN you need as primary on the first line of the phone.

Is there an easy way to swap DNs? The only option I'm seeing is to delete the existing DN info and recreate it in the order I want. Am I overlooking a better way to accomplish this?
