Hi,
I have an issue where intermittenly, all my 7940 or 7912 phones have trouble trying to do directory lookups.
You hit the directories button and then select corporate directory, when you type the name and select search it can take up to a minute to resolve the name. As mentioned this is intermittent, sometimes its rapid, and some times really slow. No specific name has any specific outcome.
The URL in enterprise params is set to the IP address as is the services.
The 7940 phones are running latest 7.2.2 load.
Any ideas?
I am really stumped, best I can think is that its a network issue.
Cheers
LR

Hi Lee,
Verify that Configuration files have the IP address for directory URLs
You can use an sniffer and verify the traffic being sent from the IP phone during the process.
At the same time you can use netmon in CCM to check that requests are arriving properly, compare timestamps to check if there is a network issue.
Then please check the IIS log in c:\winnt\system32\logfiles
You should get something like: For a succesful query.

Hi Gonz,
Thanks for your reply!
I have have used the tftp client on the publisher to export the cnf.xml files for several of the phones and can see that they have the correct ip address in the url path for directories, sevices etc.
The phones that are having problem are on the same LAN as the Pub & Sub, however there is also a site across a WAN link that has no problems whatsoever doing drectory lookups!
I think I will need to check out the IIS logs.
Any further ideas?

Whats your CCM version?
I know there is an issue with CCM 4.1.3 and 7912s.
Let us know about the IIS logs and sniffer trace

Is your Directory integrated with AD? If so have you got rid of any DC's recently? We once had a problem where a very similar issue was occuring when a DC died on us and although the other DC's tool over OK for a ll windows tasks, the old DC was still top of the list in DNS for the "Same as Parent" records for the domain, and all sub folders. By removing those records manually everything jumped back to life.

Make sure, all of your domain servers are working and resolving your CCM hostname properly.
Long timeouts are mostly DNS problem sindromes. Beats me why, but DNS has the longest timeouts of any network service, or at least so it seems.
