Hi,
I`ve 2 c2950`s connected together with a x-over cable. All ports should be in the default vlan. However, when i do a sh vlan, the connecting ports do not show as being in the default vlan?
Is this correct, it`s very confusing. I have tried moving them into another vlan, and they don`t seem to move?

What vlan do they show as being in if they aren't in the vlan 1 ? This should show in the config though if they aren't in vlan 1 .

Hi,
there is trunk negotiation enabled by default on 2950s.
So when you connected two 2950s together, the line became a trunk, probably.
Trunk ports are not displayed by sh vlan command.
Try sh int ... switchport to check that the ports connecting your 2950s are trunking.

Hi,
Yes this is correct provided you have not changed the standard port configuration. By default Cat 2950 ports are set as "dynamic desirable", ie. they will form trunk when 2 boxes are connected. As such you will not see the ports as being assigned in default vlan via "sh vlan" command. You can check by "show interfaces trunk" command. But you can still use default vlan via these ports.
I hope this makes sense.
Best regards,
Antonin
