3850 replace 3560 for BGP

Hi
I have a Cisco 3560 as core in a small office, this site, get a default route to main site from EIGRP, and the main site have a BGP to connect with all sites.

For a change in a topology we need recibe all the BGP table redistribute from EIGRP and the 3560 can't handle all the routes. A Cisco 3850 it's ok for this topology?

3850 has 2 Gb of flash and I don't believe this is adequate enough to hold and store the complete BGP routing table.

But for BGP operation the routing table is storage in a DRAM not in flash a 3850 have 4G in a DRAM for the 48 ports model.

Hi,

How many bgp routes are you looking at?

Thanks

John

Hi,

If you are looking for complete internet routing table then currently it is approx 550k.

Now as per Cisco datasheet of 3850 - its supports only 24k which includes Total number of IPv4 routes (ARP plus learned routes).

So anyway it is (3850) not a good choice if not doing any kind of route aggregation or default routing at/to main site. Other wise you need to look for high end models with SUP2T etc.

Vivek

it's not a full internet routing table, it's a internal WAN, just 30 network and 500 subnet aprox 88K as can see in the main site.

For 30 network and 500 subnet , 3850 is more than enough.
