Difference Between Link State Advertisement and Database Description.

i have never seen Link-State Advertisement Packet, so i am confused.

what is difference Between Link State Advertisement and Database Description.

why Link State Advertisement is used?

Hi,

    The DBD contains just the LSA header (most importantly being the LSA type, sequence number and router ID), the LS Request is used to solicit the full information about an LSA, the LS Update provides the requested full LSA information. Take a look at the attached packet capture, and:

       - packet 38 and 39 is the DBD from each router

       - packet 40 is the LS Request from one router and packet 42 is the LS Update for the requested LSA

      - packet 43 is the LS Request from the other router and packet 44 is the LS Update for the requested LSA
