OSPF load-balancing over 2 links to 2 different routers

Hi everyone,

i need to load balance traffic from R3 going to R1's loopback 1.1.1.1 and at the same time load balance traffic from R3 going to R2's loop back 2.2.2.2

how can this be achieved, i always managed to load balance only one of the destinations but i can't do both..

lets say 1.1.1.1 from R3 prespective = 64 + 1 = 65   interface f0/0

if i want to load balance over f0/0 and f0/1 then

i'll increase the cost of R3 f0/0 to 74

then 1.1.1.1  f0/0 = 74 + 1 = 75

                   f0/1 = 64 + 10 + 1 = 75

but this will be the opposite if i wanted to load balance traffic heading to 2.2.2.2

Isn't it 4 by default? So how does it help to touch this parameter?

He must first make his 2 paths have the same cost then by default it will load-balance on the 2 paths but maybe he'll have to change the forwarding path ( process, fast,cef) to achieve the kind of load balancing he desires.

It's been a while - but yes I belive the default is 4.  I did not advise to touch this parameter? I said "Use ospf maximum-paths" which reading again can be misleading - perhaps I should have phrased it as "look into maximum-paths"!
