Unable to Link 1G to 1G SFP between ASR 920 12 and ASR 920 24

Hi All,

I am unable to link a 24 port ASR 920 with just a 1G port open using a 1G SFP optic (tried BXU, LH, and ZX) all are showing light on the rx/tx lights and I am just leaving the config as default.

The other end is a 12 port ASR 920 which only has a TenGiG slot which is auto negotiated to 1Gbps with the same optics on the other end, but it is failing to link.

Here is the show int summary for each side using the ZX optics:

gi0/0/1 is the 24 port 920 and te0/0/15 is the 12 port 920

Can you post  show run from bot the devices ?

GigabitEthernet0/0/1

TenGigabitEthernet0/0/15

How is the connection between these ? via provider, as i see it was ZX SFP ?

First check Physical Patches ? if that is good and confirmed, try below command.

Try below both side and check

Interface GigabitEthernet0/0/1

speed nonegotiate

interface TenGigabitEthernet0/0/15
no ip address
negotiation auto
end

interface GigabitEthernet0/0/1
no ip address
negotiation auto
end

I am unable to enter speed no negotiate into the ASR 920 configuration

Both are ASR ?

Router(config-if)# no negotiation auto

or try below options : (Configuring an Interface)

Hi,

Yes, both are ASR 920 platform devices. Running 16.9.X

I could not get the 12 port to link on the tenGig port to the 24 port’s 1Gig port. Both using 1Gbps SFP.

I was able to move the port to a 1Gbps SFp port. After moving to a 1Gbps port they linked together using the same optics.

You can try making port speed 1000 and test it should work as expected, but glad to know it was resolved.

Do you have on ASR-920-12 some extension module inserted in A900-IMA-Blank?

Hi EdgarsBricis,

No I do not have an extension/add-on card in the IMA slot. The router is a 12GE and 4-10GE model.
