I am looking to upgrade from 2.7.4 to 2.8.1.6. I have 2 questions:
1) I am running this on a VM using the "Small" model - 4 cores, 4 GB of RAM and 250 GB of disk. I looked in the "CSPC Collector Quick Start Guide" and the "CSPC Installation Guide" to see if I should switch from "Small" to "Medium", but I cannot find any guidance as to which model you should use for a given number of nodes that you wish to manage.
2) The "CSPC Installation Guide" talks about installing the .ova file for the CSPC collector, patches for ESXi and a CSR1000V NAT .ova. If I already have 2.7.4 running, do I need the ESXi patches? And what is the CSR1000V NAT .ova for?

Hello It seems you are looking at a document designed for another service then the SNTC. That document also would mention that those configuration would be on a specific Cisco hardware appliance. and not on your VMware environment.
Please send me the link in private of that document for me to confirm. In any case approximately what is the number of Cisco CHASSIS you have in your network?

The documents I am reading are the CSPC Collector Quick Start Guide.pdf and the CSPC-Upgrade-Guide.pdf found on www.cisco.com at https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/cloud-systems-management/common-services-platform-collector-cspc/products-installation-guides-list.html

ok thank you your reply
the second part of your inquire was that you were reading from this document :
And It pertains to a hardware STAND ALONE CSPC appliance which would have to purchased. NOT the one you have on your Vmware environment
But in your case with the standard VM at version 2.7.4 you would have the option to upgrade or to migrate. Upgrade means that you would need to download the zip files for upgrading first 2.8.1.4 then 2.8.1.6 , but this path has too many points of failures.
all the necessary files can be downloaded from
https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286312935/type/286312958/release/2.8.1.4
you can use the same guide mentioned but start on
Migrate would mean you start with a new ova 2.8.1.4 and then upgrade after that to the latest ones which is what I recommend.
As far as the choice on ova - when installing the ova it will inquire you which size you want, based on the response you gave me small still be fine. (do not use tiny is not supported)
roughly here is the requirements for SNTC

O.K. Thanks. That means I have to copy off the credentials and discovery information from my existing implementation to do the migration. Anything else that I need to copy?

the most import thing is the list of devices managed, and the credentials.
