2960X stacking switches

Hello - is there any good videos or cheat sheets on configureing a two-stack of 2960X switches.

I have one 2960X switch in production that is a standalone and I have to add another 2960X to make it a 2-stack. Neither is configured for stack mode.

I would assume I'll have to take some downtime, but I'm hoping I don't have to  reconfigure the production one or wipe away its configuration.

Thank you for your help in advance.

here is my suggestion :

1. take the configuration out of the box ( so you can secure config in case any issues)

2. Make sure both the switches are compatible models to stack and installed IOS required for both the switches.

3. If you already have production switches, you can add a new switch as a stack member ( to minimize the downtime)

Note : if you doing first time, do in mantaince window so you will be able to perform any reboot required.

4. change the Exisiting running switch switch number and priority, also new one same.

follow the below guides on how to connect and check:

Hello
You may not have to incur downtime well to one switch anyway but it would be viable to do so under change control.
You will need to Install the stacking modules also provision for the second switch, plus if they are not running the same software version this needs to be done also.

Lastly the switch you attach will need to be wiped, powered down, stack cabling attached and then powered on.

Hi Paul - been trying to wipe this switch as it was used in a prior stack. However, "write erase", "reload" does not seem to work. It still comes up with it being provisioned from the other stack.

I will try and google the commands and see if there is another example of completley wiping the whole switch away. If you have any suggestions on that it would be much appreciated.

Thank you
