Hi all,
i'm new with cisco equipment.
I have a 877 ADSL router.
I tried to configure it for my ADSL but it seems it doesn't recognise my carrier.
If I put line cable in another ADSL router it works fine but when I switch it back to my cisco 877 nothing happens. Led CD on front panel still blinks.
Could you help me?
Thank you
RGDS
Mauro

Hello,
in addition to Neil's post, you also might want to try 'dsl operating-mode ansi-dmt' instead of 'auto', this has been a frequent issue in the past...

ciao mauro, ho aperto un caso al tac questa matina oerch? su un nuovo 877w ho avuto un problema che mi sembra simile. devi aggiornare il firmware. ti giro il link. spero possa esserti di aiuto. adesso il mio sembra funzionare.

"From TAC......
There are some bugs for 877 routers in working together with some types of DSLAMs, that weren't in 837 routers.
So please upgrade your Firmware to the newest version (it contains bug fixes), which you can download it from here:
http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/800
(adsl_alc_20190_2_6_4.bin)

So beyond upgrading the IOS you also need to upgrade the firware? And which way and to where? Flash:?
I was also told that 877 are not as reliable as 837 and I weekly send ADSL 800 routers all around Europe. Locally there is another guy who is responsible of the ADSL subscription with the local provider and i'd like to send the router already configured.
Is that firware the definitive solution to carrier detection by 877?
Thanks in advance
Alex.

Alex
We have used a lot of 837's are about to start deploying 877's, I am concerned about your comment on reliabilty.
Can you comment further?
Also what IOS are you deploying in to production for this platform

Hi maurogatti,
Since i dont see your line protocol up. Are you sure your dsl signal is present on the line? And do you have adsl over isdn or over pots? The 877 is for analog (pots) and the 876 is for isdn.
Good luck
