There is no mode button. Just follow this document to reboot and recover the password.

That doc says:
Reconnect the power cord to the switch or the active switch. As soon as the System LED blinks, press the Mode button once. The switch enters the ROMMON mode.

Hi,
See this link. I don't think there is a mode button. There is just a reset button. I have never seen a mode button on chassis-based switches.

Have not worked with 9400 series yet, but I think you simply reload the device and then break into it just like you do it for the 4500 series.
