CBS350 & C1300 compatibility

I'm hoping someone is able to help as I asked cisco but they have referred me to the forums.

We are currently running a network based on CBS350 switches and are planning to expand by incorporating switches from the C1300 series. I am seeking your advice on any potential challenges or considerations that might arise from deploying these two models within the same network environment.
Our current core network consists of the following switches:
CBS350-24XTS (x2)
CBS350-24XT
We are looking to add a fourth switch to our core, which would be a C1300 equivalent. These core switches are not stacked, and we do not intend to stack them due to prior issues experienced in our environment.
The network carries a significant amount of multicast traffic, primarily for AV systems, including IPTV, NDI devices, and Dante audio streams (with a TTL of 1). The new C1300 switches will be interconnected with the existing CBS350 switches, forming a mix of the two series across the network.
Given the nature of our traffic and the mix of switch models, do you foresee any potential issues with multicast compatibility, performance, or general interoperability between the CBS350 and C1300 switches? Are there any specific configurations or best practices we should follow to ensure a smooth integration?

@JordanMH

If you look at Cisco doc for CBS350 EoL, the replacement model is the 1300.

When Cisco recommend a model for replacement, I believe they take in consideration that one model will fulfill all the functions and capacity of the previous one.

As an example, the model CBS350-48NGP-4X-AR has not replacement indicated by Cisco, which means, 1300 would not be able to replace this device.

That's unexpected, so could you provide additional details?

  • We have a Core Switch SG500-52 52-Port connectet to the Firewall Fortigate FG61F which is the Source of DHCP  to this Core-Switch. The Core Switch SG500-52 is directly connected with Router on a Stick over Trunk-Ports to the CBS350-16P-2G.
  • Then we connected C1300-16P-4X and C1300-48FP-4X to the CBS350-16P-2G for Configurating.
  • C1300-16P-4X: works without Issues and connect to the Internet.
  • C1300-48FP-4X, SUPPRESSES the other Switches and has no Internet.
  • The aim ist to replace SG500-52 with C1300-16P-4X

As these are quite basic functions, I would assume a configuration mistake or (which is IMO very likely) auto smart port actions that run mad.

The Smart Port is deactivated.
