hi experts,
we got a Cisco ws-6509-e Core switch and would need to add in a module. I haven't done this so start searching how to but I couldn't find how to configure it just how to remove/plug the module in. Will be adding this WS-X6748-GE-TX module.
Hope someone could share some experience
Thanks

Hi
All the 6509 Modules are hot swappable. So there is no need to power off the chassis while inserting a module.
But say that you are having a module x in slot 2. You are going to replace the module to Y from X. Before replacing that make sure you issue the command "module clear-config", this will remove the interface level configurations from the running config.
But if the present module and the replacement module are X, then there is no need of command.
I have mentioned below the link for online insertion & Removal of modules in 6500 for your reference.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Somu

Errr .. You didn't mention what your Supervisor engine is?
What are you going to plug/connect the 6748 to? I mean what type/kind of clients are they?
