Thanks for your support,
It is all about Port that directly connceted on the SUB module beside the Console Port

That port functions like any other switchport in the switch. It doesn't have any special feature.
If you want to assign an IP directly on the switchport, you need to make it a Layer3 switchport with the command no switchport and then input the appropriate IP address.

I seem to remember that this interface does not work when the Supervisor is running IOS. It is there purely for recovery and is only accessible when in ROMMON.

Andy,
Excellent catch. I was assuming he was talking about the uplink port.
According to:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat4000/hw_doc/78_14496.htm
Ethernet Management Port
The Ethernet management port is used (in ROMMON mode only) to recover a switch software image that has been corrupted or destroyed due to a network catastrophe. This port is not active while the switch is operating normally.

You are indeed correct.
Thanks

I am new in Cisco Environment.
Have I a possibility to active the Ethernet management port?
As said already, I would like use it
as Outbandmanagement Interface and reach
an additional Interface posibility to config
and manage the switch like as console Port.
On Extreme Switches it is posible.

Hi
u cannot use this port for management purpose as said by earlier posters it is active in rommon mode only.
U can configure telnet to manage this switch remotely.
Thanks
