Hello...new to the nexus world. We have a server that we would like to use on our new Nexus 5548 however, it has only Copper ethernet. Does Cisco have a copper SFP for the 5548. I know that 6500's had a copper SFP but, I'm not sure if that would be compatable in the Nexus 5548 world.
Thanks,
Dan

Make sure you do a speed 1000 if the port is a 1gb ethernet link. Otherwise you'll see it as inactive or unknown module or something like that on the NX5K.
int ethX/X
speed 1000

Reza/Devavrat,
Similarly I want to connect Cisco 2811 router to NX5548UP. How should I proceed?
Thanks

Like I said in your other post, 2811 is only 10/100 and cannot connect to the 5548 directly (1000/10G only).

jerry is right, the NX5548UP won't scale down 100mbps. Try using a Cisco 2900 ISR or use a Nexus 2000 FEX'd to the 5K.

If budget is an issue, you can use a 2821, but you also need a media converter to convert from copper (2800) to fiber (Nexus)

No need. Use a GLC-T on the 5K (copper)

No need. Use a GLC-T on the 5K (copper)
But the GLC-T on a Nexus 5k will NOT negotiate to 100 Mbps, will it?
If not, then one of the solution is for a HWIC-1GE-SFP on the 2811.

Leo,
GLC-T would work if the device is 2821 not 2811.
2821 comes with 2 10/100/1000 on board ports.

Hi Leo,
This is why I said it cannot be done. Ashok also have a strict requirement that he will not upgrade the 2811 to anything else. The only solution is use the FEX.
Regards,
jerry

Hello All,
Following is the summary:
At Router 2811
One port Gigabit module: HWIC-1GE-SFP
Trans receiver : GLC-T – 1 QTY
At Nexus 5548
Trans receiver : GLC-T – 1 QTY
Above requirements will enable me to connect Cisco 2811 router to Nexus 5548 switch.
Please let me know you views.
Thanks
Ashok
