Help me about Stand By Ip

Hi

I have 2 switch (3750) need to set redundancy, so I set up as below:

SWITCH 1

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/2

description "To EP LAN"

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport trunk allowed vlan 18

switchport mode trunk

interface Vlan18

description "AMS Client Subnet"

ip address 10.112.2.241 255.255.255.0

ip access-group BLOCK-PIM in

ip pim sparse-mode

standby 10 ip 10.112.2.254

standby 10 priority 110

standby 10 preempt

SWITCH 2

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/2

description "To EP LAN"

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport trunk allowed vlan 18

switchport mode trunk

interface Vlan18

description "AMS Client Subnet"

ip address 10.112.2.242 255.255.255.0

ip access-group BLOCK-PIM in

ip pim sparse-mode

standby 10 ip 10.112.2.254

standby 10 priority 110

standby 10 preempt

Then I think I can ping the Virtual Gateway 10.112.2.254

But I failed, tried plug in both switches, can any one help me ?

Calvin,

Could you please tell us from were are you trying to ping the VIP IP address?

ARe you able to ping the VIP address from your Switches?

If the problem is that from the clients you are not able to ping the VIP, Kindly check if the client is on the same vlan and subnet ?

If you provide some more infomration it would be great.
