Hello, I am new here to the boards. I recently pieced together a home lab.
I am unable to ping my PC from my 2500 router. I have it connected through a console cable. I can send commands to the router and configure it. I have Ethernet 0 setup on the same subnet as the PC. No shutdown and no keepalive.
PC side is WinXP with "no firewall" and alow ICMP requests.
I am still unable to ping my PC which is driving me crazy!
I am sorry for being sch a noob. I have tried searching and nothing has helped yet.
Please assist, thank you =)

What happens when you try to ping router from your PC?? Does that go through??
Can you please paste the output of "Show running int Ethernet0" and "Show int Ethernet 0" from your router and "ipconfig/all" from your PC?

Cindy,
Just to check, maybe you have ip routing globally disabled. If so, add ip routing to the config.
Just after you ping, try a show arp. Can you see the MAC address of your PC in the table?

Did you set GW for your PC - it should be work without it, but nobody knows MS XP :). Just one probe.
Anyway I hope your interface is in "up up" state. Did you checked?
Bye
FCS
Please rate me if I helped.

Hi
(1)make "no ip classless" to "ip classless"
make "no keepalive" to "keepalve 10"
(2)Then give the output of "sh int e0"
(3)On tranreciever make sure that the button "sqe" is off.(if its there)
(4)Is the crossover cable working ok.
Regards

your pc is connected to the console port. You have an en port on your pc (pcmcia card or internal port) that is configured with an IP address and snm in range of ethernet port subnet on router? The en port on 2500 router is configured, and plugged into a hub or sw by a tranciever and cable? Your pc is plugged into the same hub/sw with another straight thru en cable. Please confirm. Otherwise, from the console port you do not have the ability to ping your pc ethernet interface if the pc en interface is not on a lan.
