How to limit bandwidth per user (IP) on Cisco Router (iOS 15.2)

Hello,

I've tried many solutions found in the Internet but still can't solve my problem.

I've got a task to limit bandwidth per user up to 2Mb/s to avoid full utilisation of internet connection by one or two users.

Can anybody write me (and for futures ) how can i (step-by-step) do such thing?

Ideal situation would be if every host from 192.10.0.0/24 will have own limit (i suppose that some people (management) would like to have higher limit) of bandwidth usage.

Thank you in advance for reply,

Pawel

Hi sandeepchoudhary21,

I've tried this before but it limits bandwidth i.e. to 10MB/s for subnet. I've tried to make separate access list for every IP in subnet but router is not able to get so long config...

Hi

Do you have a firewall or proxy server on your network? These issues are normally easier solved with a proxy or firewall

Hi John,

Unfortunately I don't have any firewall or proxy. My network is tunneled to other network with central firawall and proxy over the Internet.

Hi,

If you have a Cisco 6500 switch with sup 720 you could user-based rate limiting:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps708/prod_white_paper0900aecd803e5017.html

Otherwise you could setup a FreeBSD server running IPFW and use the pipe and bandwith options
