Issues upgrading C9300x-24Y from 17.05.01 to 17.09.04a

Hey everyone,

I have a brand new C930xx-24Y switch that I am trying to upgrade. 

Current version of the switch

Switch Ports Model              SW Version        SW Image              Mode

On checking in the website I notice there are two sub variants of this switch 
C9300X-24Y-A
C9300X-24Y-E
I couldn't find which sub variant is my switch model, so I assumed it to be C9300X-24Y-E and then downloaded the below image
cat9k_iosxe.17.09.04a.SPA.bin

I am using the below procedure mentioned in this release notes. 

I am getting an error in the 4th step

Switch#install add file flash:cat9k_iosxe.17.09.04a.SPA.bin activate commit
install_add_activate_commit: START Thu Jan 18 14:40:16 UTC 2024
FAILED: install_add_activate_commit : flash:cat9k_iosxe.17.09.04a.SPA.bin is not valid file or cannot be handled by install CLI.

The release notes doesn't mention about 17.09.04a in the software images, should I first try 17.09.04 and then upgrade again to 17.09.04a ?
Kindly request some assistance with this. Thank you in advance for all the help.

I had the same issue with either the "A" or "E" download recently. I went with the "A" and it worked perfectly so you might try that.

Once I downloaded the A version that worked.

Try this command: 

request platform software package install switch all file flash:cat9k_iosxe.17.09.04a.SPA.bin on-reboot new auto-copy verbose

Once I downloaded the version from C9300x-24Y-A version that worked fine. Not sure what is the difference though.

E & A defines the licensing model, A represents Advantage which has extra features compare to E (Essential).
