I have PCs connected to IP Phones on a VLAN. I have noticed failure on a few of these phones that lasts for only about 2mins. The IP phones restarts as soon as this occurs and does not affect all the phones on this VLAN. Please note that the affected phones span across the modules on the 6509. they are not on one particular module.

Check the logs on the switch when these events occur. Something must be reported on the disconnects.

What are the IP phones model?
Is it happening to particular IP phones (same users, same models)? How often?
What is the port speed set in your 6509 switch where these IP phones are connected?
Have you tried connecting to a different ports in your switch?
What does your switch log say?
You need to provide more detailed info in order to troubleshoot this issue.

IP Phone Model is 7941, 7940, 7912 and 7911
It happens to same users and 2 times in a week
The ports are set on Auto but negotiates 100/Full
I have not tried connecting to other ports.
Suprisingly, there is no log entry on the switch.
