With RSTP, my slide says that its portfast (among other things) is building into RSTP.  I dont understand that statement, shouldnt we still have to use the spanning-tree portfast for the sw to know if its an edge port or not?

Hi,

Yes you're right on Ciswo switches you have to configure Portfast for edge ports.
