Hi Simone,

Yes, Sup32 goes in slot 5 and 6 of the 6509 chassis. This is a new generation sup engine which uses slot 5and 6 in 6509 and 6506 chassis. In 6513 it goes in Slot 7 and 8.

Hi,

Sup32 can be installed in the same slots as Sup720:

? Slot 5 or 6 in 6-slot or 9-slot chassis.

? Slot 7 or 8 in 13-slot chassis.

? Slot 1 or 2 in 3-slot chassis.

This is mandatory. So in the case of WS-C6509E chassis (your box) the rule is to put the first Sup32 into slot 5, second (redundant) in slot 6. The remaining slots may be occupied by the other switching modules. The actual position is arbitrary. People usually start at the first slot which is your case.

So your module positioning both correct and normal.

Best regards,

Antonin
