hi all,

I have configured one of the switches as an NTP server because we don't have an NTP server. and also configured the other switch as an NTP client but the client switch can't sync its's time with the other switch. Please share your thoughts.

Thanks,

Yared

Hello,

Can you provide the ntp configurations you made on each device? Are IPs configured on each device? Are the devices directly connected via trunk link? Can you provide those interface configs as well?

Can you also provide the output of the command "sh ntp associations detail"

Hi,

Suggests to try the attached guides, also check the following points:

  • Verify that there is proper connectivity between the NTP client source address to  the NTP Master address (with ping for example).
  • Make sure you set the following command in ntp master: ntp master.

WTF.  That is not a smart move.

Build a Stratum 1 NTP server using a Raspberry Pi

is the switch able to get sync from public NTP ? how this configured.

easy and quicker way : get small Linux : ( i have been running in this in big network, 2 NTP Server works like charm). - this also help if the switch go offline, you not going to get NTP for other switches.
