Hi
The WS-X6716-10GE in slot 3 has a problem for links:
%C6K_PLATFORM-6-OVERSUB_INFO_VS: switch-id 1 Module 3 port-group 2 (ports 5 6 7 8) is operating in oversubscription mode. In case only port 5 of port-group 2 is to be used, enalbe non oversubscription mode for port-group2 to improve performance.
I have tried to disable oversubscription mode, but, when you enable the port, it automatically go back to oversubscription mode, and status of port is noconnect.
Please advice what is the reason, and how to fix it?
Any comments will be apprecaited
Thanks in advance
Julie

What sup and what IOS are you using? How, exactly, did you configure for performance mode?

sup: Supervisor Engine 720 10GE
IOS: s72033-advipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-33.SXJ5.bin
I do not configure anything related performance mode. how do I check current default setting?

Each port group can operate in either oversubscription mode or performance mode. In
oversubscription mode, you can use up to 4 ports in the port group. In performance mode,
only the first port of the port group is enabled, and that port comes with enhanced buffering and
quality-of service (QoS) functionality. The other 3 ports in the port group will be administratively shut
down. The 16-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet module works in oversubscription mode by default.
The 6716 has sixteen TenGig ports that are segregated into four distinct port groups, each of which is controlled by a single port ASIC. The module has the ability to operate in 'oversubscription' mode or in
'performance' mode. This ability provides the flexibility of connecting some ports to servers while using other ports for wiring closet uplinks.
The port ranges for each of the four port groupings on the 6716 are as follows: 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16.
The software command
router(config)#[no] hw-module slot x oversubscription port-group y
will put port group y (1, 2, 3, or 4) in performance mode and administratively disable the oversubscribed ports (ports 2-4 in port group 1, ports 6-8 in port group 2, ports 10-12 in port group 3, and ports 14-16 in port group 4) and put them in shutdown state. In this mode, the user cannot do "no shut" on the disabled ports.
To display the current configuration of all the port groups in slot x. Run
Router# show hw-module slot x oversubscription
