we're creating an etherchannel between the two 10GE ports on the 6509's and I was wandering if there were a conclusive way to verify that the Layer 2 was working between these switches? I was thinking of may be pulling the cable off one of the switches or something like that...
thanks..

Wouldn't a "show etherchannel" be a little less disruptive?

HI,
you can issue show eth sum command and check that both the interfaces are being shown as UP. If they are showing up then you cna be sure that ether-channel is working fine. In order to finally chekc the things plug out one cable and see if networks keeps working fine. You can issue a ping and see while plugging the cable out that ping response is not broken. I will recommend to do this testing during off hours to avoid any issues.
