CISCO TOUCH 12 PHONE BACK BUTTONS

What are the HDMI and VGA port on the backside of the touch 12 phone for? 

The port that project to our telepresence comes from our codec, so we are not quite sure, what are the ports on the phone used for, as we have tried connecting to project with no avail

Are you referring to the Touch 12, the touch panel to control the older Telepresence Systems (TX9000, CTS3010, etc)? It's not a phone, it's just a control interface for the system so you can place calls, answer calls, etc. The HDMI and VGA ports are not used in this application. This hardware probably is used in some other application at Cisco or perhaps some other company like Crestron or AMX perhaps, and that's why those ports exist, but they aren't used here.
