VCS on multiple cluster

Hello Experts! I am hoping to get help on VCS Clustering... I know that with VCS X7.1, it is being said that clustering VCS requires configuration with same cluster name on all VCSs, same pre-shared key for clustering communication on all VCSs and same feature option keys (i.e. provisioning, findme, H.323-SIP Gateway, etc.).

With this said, can someone please confirm if one VCS peer can only participate to only one VCS Cluster? Or is it possible to have a single VCS joining two or more different VCS clusters? If yes, can you point me to the right docs?

Hi Rose,

You cannot have single VCS join 2 different clusters.

To join, cluster you need to have some common paramtere across the peers like FQDN, pre-shared key.

VCS only single entry to such paramters therefore i don't see any provision wherein you cannot enter the mupltiple FQDN and pre-shared.

Hope this helps

Sagar

Sagar is correct .

Please remember this , Peer always choose the Master VCS configuration. so it is not possible to involve peer in multiple clustering .

I have not checked to do this , but in reality even if you achieve to do this (not sure you get error thrown like this VCS-peer is already in another cluster), however VCS peer wil be flapping with configurations according to their master. so it is not recommended to this setup.

echo the previous posts. 1 vcs join 1 cluster. 1 cluster can have 6 peers. out of 6 peers only 4 will live and 2 standby.
