Can a person use a regular serial cable to extend the camera cable for a Wave II camera on a 3000MXP?
This is the older style 3000MXP where the S-video and RJ45 camera control are blended into a single DB9 serial connector when it connects to the 3000MXP. The 3000MXP cannot handle a Precision HD camera because of a difference in the circuitry internally.

Yes, that will work.
Or you can use a Ethernet cable and a RJ45 Coupler to extend it.
But remember that the camera need quite alot of power, so you can not use too long cables. If long cables is a requirement, then you need to add an external power supply for the camera. If you do that, then you must also use a different cable for the camera (where you do not use the +12V power in from the codec.)

3000MXP (with a "HD camera" printing near the camera port) can support the Precision HD camera. You just need to use a control cable (DB9-RJ45) with the right config. This cable will carry the video signal and the control signal.

As I stated, this particular 3000MXP does not support the Precision HD camera.
Thanks for the feedback, Robert.
