Dear all,
We're kind of a partner with Cisco in China. Our SIP clients in the Intranet can register to CUCM and make calls to each other. Now, we intend to let our SIP clients in the Internet register to CUCM. As far as we know, Cisco expressway-edge and expressway-core are required for Cisco devices to register to CUCM. However, we wonder whether third-party SIP clients in the Internet can register to CUCM via expressway-core and expressway-edge? After googling, we could not find a clear answer to this question. Any comment is greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Chen-Che

MRA does NOT work with any 3rd party device (SIP or H.323), only Cisco endpoints work with MRA.
Deepak is just saying that internally, you can register those to a VCS-C (and then trunk to CUCM), and actually, if they're SIP, x8.8 also allows registration on EXP-C, once again, internally NOT over MRA.
You're saying you're already registering those to CUCM internally, there's not even a need for VCS-C registration.

Hi Chen,
Seems it does not support local registration of third party sip endpoints.

Third party sip clients are not supported using MRA

Third-party SIP or H.323 devices can register to a Cisco VCS connected via a neighbor zone to a Cisco Expressway and, if necessary, interoperate with Unified CM-registered devices over a SIP trunk.

Edit to the O.P. - The above mentioned comment i.e,. third party SIP devices will be able to register is applicable only when you have VCS C&E and not just with Expressway C&E that is only used for MRA and have specific endpoints supported as mentioned by Atul.

Dear Deepak,
You mean that if we have both VCS C&E and Expressway C&E, our third-party SIP clients in the Internet will be allowed to register to CUCM. Is my understanding correct? Thanks for your reply.
