Marwan,
Yes, that's the problem i.e. you cant do direct upgrade from CUE 2.x to 7.x, it has to be phased upgrade. Following table shows from which version, you can upgrade to 7.4. This is found in CUE 7.4 Release notes Guide.
Upgrade For CUE on AIM-CUE From Release | To 7.4.x |
---|---|
7.3.x | soft inst. upgrade |
7.2.x | |
7.1.x | |
7.0.x | |
3.2.x |
Further, if you review CUE 3.2 Release notes guide , you will realize you need to reach to 2.2 first from 2.1. So your upgrade path becomes 2.1 >> 2.2 >> 3.2 >> 7.4. appears painful & further i am not sure if you will get these upgrade softwares as they must be end of sale already.
From a very recent experience of mine on similar requirement, I learnt from BU that " CUE 2.0/ 3.0 is a very old release and I would suggest you to configure the new module fresh. There have been some bugs in this area from my experience esp. when it relates to very old releases. With 7.0+ I am more confident that the backup would work without issues.ā
Hence the recommendation is against the Backup/Restore approach. Better to put some time upfront to configure manually than to chase down issues later (unless the customer really really wants the old voicemails restored).
Hope it helps ?

Maybe you have not read the OP thread ?
OP does not have any data to backup.
OP is trying fresh install for boothelper, and that fails.

Fresh install is supposed to work without the need of any other previous version.
Post console log of fresh install with boot loader. Do not use attachements, only post complete relevant log.
