CME 9.1 Extension mobility configuration

Hi All,

I am about to implement extension mobility on CME 9.1 for 32 IP phones. This is what I understand that needs to be done.

1.Configure EM Service :

2.Set up Logout Profile:

3.Enabling Ephone for EM:

4. Set up User Profile:

I am able to see alot of configuration examples  which is good but my question is in the scenrario where in all 32 IP phones have extension mobility on them does that mean that I need to add 32 log out profiles on each ephone? something like...

ephone 1

mac-address 000A.AAAA.AAAA

type 7960

logout-profile 1

logout-profile 2

logout-profile 3

logout-profile 4

logout-profile 5

......

......

......

logout-profile 32

!

Thanks in advance

No, you will use only one logout-profile per ephone.

Hi Paolo

Does that mean one logout profile would contain 32 username and passwords?  can you provide and example please?

Here is the concept if you didn't get it

ephone 1
mac-address 000A.AAAA.AAAA
type 7960
logout-profile 1

ephone 2
mac-address 000B.BBBB.BBBBb
type 79xx
logout-profile 2

ephone 3
mac-address 000C.CCCC.CCCC
type 79
logout-profile 3

And each logout profile configuration will be applied to every assigned ephone

So you need 32 logout profiles, each will be assigned to an ephone

Hi Haitham,

The Logout profile is the Phone information when there is no one logged in to the EM on that IP Phone. as all users are using the EM so you need only to configure one logout profile and you assign it to all ephones!

Thansk,

Aws

Hi Aws,

This way all the non login phones will be useless, you won't be able to reach them

Better to give logout DN as *1234 and when login to be 1234

so logout phone can be reached if no user login

Hey Teofito,

I completely agree with pablo you can 1 logout profile per ephone. I think what you are trying to achieve here is to have a device as an extension mobility device. So each ephone will contain a different logout profile with different numbers. A logout profile will contain a number and its not worth having all devices with the same number.

You need to have extension mobility enabled under telephony services.

A user profile would be used to login into a extension mobility device. Please find examples below:

Voice logout-profile1

number 1111

!

ephone 1

mac-address xxxx.xxxx.xxxx

logout-profile 1

A user can login into the EM enabled phones. You will need user profiles to achieve that.

voice user-profile 1

number 2222

name xxxxx password xxxxx

So basically one device cant have multiple logout profiles.

I hope I was able to help you. If I have please rate my post.
