We have upgraded CUCM from 12.5 to 14. post that we noticed there is some configuration missing in 14.0
Do we can restore the backup we took from CUCM 12.5 to 14.0?

Let’s first address your query about restoring the backup from version 12.5 to 14.
It’s important to note that backups from one version are not compatible with other versions. In order for a backup restore to be successful for CUCM, it must be restored to the same version from which it was taken. Additionally, the hostname and IP address must be identical.
It’s common to observe missing configurations when modifications are made during the upgrade process and after the upgrade but before switching versions. If alterations were made before switching versions and post-upgrade, this outcome is anticipated.

That's correct.
During the upgrade process, the DB from the old version is copied to the new version.
And if you don't make a switch-version afterwards and modify the settings in the old version, they are lost. Because you are modifying settings in the "old" DB.

Make sense now.
Due to some other compatibility issues, we haven't done the switch version after the upgrade. during that period, we have done configuration changes not reflected in 14.0 database.

No, you cannot. The backup has to have the same version like the running CUCM version.

Thanks Nithin!!
I got the issue. I have made configuration changes after the upgradation activity. later we made these QM related configuration. I believe we have to reconfigure those configurations again after switch version.

If it is critical and difficult-to-reproduce configuration, there are 3rd party tools that can be used to open the backup TAR files. With that, you can locate the relevant data and (probably with some manipulation) use BAT to import the missing items. Or, at least, look at the configuration of the items and reproduce the objects.

It's not much difficult. but in a short period, we have to complete that configuration post switch version. because QM right now using in production.

What information is missing, and how did you determine it was missing? Knocking profusely on wood, but I have not experienced that in multiple 12.5 to 14 upgrades.

if we switch version to 14.0 that would be take the data before the upgradation activity.
