CUCM and IMP Pub, Subs migration

Hello,

I have a UC cluster with one (1) CUCM Pub and four (4) CUCM Subs. The cluster also contains two sets of IMP Cluster (IMP Cluster A Pub and Sub, IMP Cluster B Pub and Sub). I need to migrate the CUCM Publisher, 2 CUCM Subcribers and IMP Cluster A; their IP address and FQDN will change when migrated to new hardware.

I am planning on using PCD for this migration, for the other 2 CUCM subscriber in the UC cluster that i will not be migrating, is changing the publisher hostname and IP address in OS Admin settings > IP > Publisher all that is needed then check dbreplication? For the IMP Cluster B that will not be migrated, do i just change the Presence Gateway to point to the new publisher.

I will change option 150 on dhcp scopes to new server IP address for phones. Am i missing any steps or gotchas i need to be aware of. What would be the best way to going about achieving the above? Will PCD migration handle tftp certificates for the ip phones and third party CA or i will need to re-install all 3rd party CA and use bulk certificate management for tftp?

Thanks

I assume that you are trying to move the nodes from one hardware to another without upgrading.

PCD migrations on same version will fail.

This is correct, source and destination cluster will be version 11.5. Ok, so I do a fresh **bleep** Pub, Sub and IMP Pub, Sub install with new IP and FQDN and restore the database instead of using PCD. Do my previous comments correct on how to maintain a healthy UC cluster for the servers that I will not be moving.

how would you go about doing this if you have first hand experience on migrating part of a cluster?

thanks

You would not be able to restore your backup on the new servers as they have another name and IP. My recommendation would be to move your VMs across to the new hardware as is and then follow the process for changing IP address and host name that you’ll find documentation for on cisco.com.

As @Roger Kallberg mentioned, you can only restore the backup  if the IP  address and hostname are exactly same. So thats not going to work.

If there is any upgrade versions available on 11.5, why dont you migrate to an upgraded versions instead of migrating to same version. In that  scenario, using PCD you can change the hostname and IP address and complete the migration in a single task. PCD does everything in a single migrations process.

If Domain name change is required, it won't be possible with PCD. That you need to change it from CLI.
