Hi all,
I'm a beginner in collaboration network and I need to know how we can connect a unified communication call manager to the PSTN Line so that Cisco IP Phone can make external calls.
THank you in advance

Hi Foued,
You will first need to check which protocol your gateway uses, the gateway on which the PSTN line will terminate. Based on that protocol ( SIP, MGCP or H323 ) you will need to add that on CUCM, if it is MGCP then dial plan will be completely managed by CUCM and the MGCP gateway ports will need to register to CUCM. If it is H323 or SIP then the dial plan will also need to be configured on the gateway to allow inbound and outbound calls based on the type of patterns the users will dial. You can search online for CUCM + MGCP or CUCM + H323 gateway type keywords to get plenty of docs that show how this integration is done. if this is a major deployment then i strongly recommend involving your Cisco Account team to validate your design before ordering or implementing anything.

Thank you a lot Manish for all clarification.
Just a clarification, what is the difference between CUBE and voice gateway?

Hi Foued,
CUBE is a router with a special license and features as explained in the following nicely compiled doc
https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/69976/frequently-asked-questions-cisco-unified-border-element-cube
Lot of customers these days prefer CUBE over MGCP or H323 deployments.

Thank you Manish for your answer.
Is there prerequisites according to the compatibility between CUBE, the router and the version of CUCM (and not CUCM Express) that I will use it?

Hi,
Compatibility can be found in the link below.
