Hi,
as I read in the ordering Guide
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/ps10265/ps10493/spec_sheet_c17-644230.pdf
the C210 has to be ordered with a SAS-Expander to use more than 8 Disks with LSI MegaRAID SAS 9261-8i
according to the Ordering Guide its not fieldupgradable.
No I had a look and its possible to order
1x R210-SASXPAND=
2x SASCBLSHORT-003=
Having a look into the Server I do not have an idea why it should not be fielupgradable.
Connectors are the same, physical it fits, cannot see the mentioned problem with cable-routing
Has anybody experience with this issue, is there another caveat where I can run in when trying to replace the extender to the expander ?
Thx

Hubert,
Sorry there is no way to upgrade a C210 extender to an expander. My understanding was that we removed the expander/extender as an orderable part. I'm surprised to see it listed as something you can order. While the connectors look the same the cables are actually different.
I'll try to find out internally why the expander is showing up as an orderable part. We had a lot of issues with this when the C210 first came out. Again I'm surprised to see the expander as orderable.

Hi Hubert,
Did you get an explanation from Lois? We want to upgrade our servers and I can see expander as orderable part, but all guides say upgrade is impossible.
Thank you in advance
