I have B200M3s with only 1240VIC. No additional mezzanine card. So I get 40GB throughput (20 to fab A) (20 to fab b)
but on my 2208XP I only have 2 uplinks going to the FI. So thats 20GB per IOM Tops.
Do I need to add more links between my IOM and FI to get more balance throughput between the blades and FI?
From what I understand, The more NIFs I have, I will have less HIFs per NIF and thus have better balance throughput and less congestion?
So if I increased the NIFs to 4, I will have only 8HIF/4NIF = 2 slots/nif as opposed to what I have currently which is 8HIF/2 = 4 slots/nif?

The following table describes maximum configurable vNICs/vHBAs on a VIC adapter based on the number of FEX uplinks:
Acknowledged link between FEX and FI | Maximum configurable vNICs/vHBA on a VIC adapter for the VIC adapter 1225, 1225T, 1227, 1227T | Maximum configurable vNICs/vHBA on a VIC adapter for the adapter VIC P81E |
---|---|---|
1 | Not supported | Not supported |
2 | 3 | 4 |
4 | 9 | 10 |
8 | 21 | 22 |

I am looking at this
http://d2zmdbbm9feqrf.cloudfront.net/2014/usa/pdf/BRKCOM-2003.pdf
it looks like the more NIFs I have, on the 2208XP, if I use all 8 links, then each server slot will have their own NIF?
IF I use 4, then each NIF will be shared between 2 hosts
so would i get better throughput if I use all 8 links on the 2208XP?

Your servers will not "fight" for bandwidth anymore so I guess that is a yes...so your IOM wont be a bottleneck for the servers...
Hope that answers your question.
