When planning and implementation an FI upgrade (6200 series > 6400 series) is it possible to program the 6400 in advance?
On our 6200 FI's the unified ports are located at the end however the 6400 series only supports unified ports at the beginning of the switch Ports (1-8)
If I have my 6400's available now (standalone mode) would it be ok to begin provisioning my ports now or do we need to wait until migration? How is this typically done? What about VLAN configuration on the ports and port-channel configs? Can all this be done in advance? Or does the migration process migrate this data automagically ?

Depends on the design and have a look below migration guide :

Before migrating from Cisco UCS 6200 Series Fabric Interconnects to Cisco UCS 6454 Fabric Interconnects, ensure that you unconfigure the unified ports on the Cisco UCS 6200 Series Fabric Interconnects. How do I do this ? What are the steps?
After migrating to Cisco UCS 6454 Fabric Interconnects, reconfigure the unified ports based on their location on the Cisco UCS 6454 Fabric Interconnects, and reacknowledge the newly configured ports. For example, a unified port on a UCS 6248 Fabric Interconnect should be reconfigured on any port between 1 and 16 on a Cisco UCS 6454 Fabric Interconnect. Can I do this right now? Why does it need to be done after migration?

Does the VLAN database get copied over as part of the migration process?
